Budgeting software can be a great tool to help you manage your family or personal budget. If you are considering some software to help with you with your budgeting needs, use this set of features to see how the different options stack up.

  1. Is it easy to use? You obviously don’t want a software package that isn’t easy to use. But how do you know? See the next feature.
  2. Does the software have a trial period where you can try it before you buy it? Many budgeting software programs can be downloaded from the Internet. See if it is a try before you buy option to allow you to see if it really meets your needs and is easy to use.
  3. Will it track multiple accounts? Most of us have at least a checking and savings account. You might even have multiple checking accounts.
  4. Is it an online program or does it run on your computer? If it is online, then you can have access anywhere you can get an Internet connection.
  5. Can the software automatically retrieve transactions from your online accounts? This will save you much time and error in entering expenses.
