Even though the much hyped Big Billion Days or Great Indian Festival have concluded, the sales are far from over. E-commerce firm, Snapdeal today announced its second Unbox Diwali Sale which will take place from October 12-14.
“We had a phenomenal response to our sale last week with more than 11 million units being sold out and we have some great offers lined up for this week as well,” said Saurabh Bansal, Vice President and Head, Category management, Snapdeal.
According to the company, Snapdeal’s Unbox Diwali Sale last week saw 40 percent more women shopping online as compared to the last year. It also claimed there was a sharp increase in pre-paid orders, without sharing specific numbers.
The sale will feature offers on electronics, fashion and home products. Snapdeal is also holding a real estate sale in parallel, with offers on properties in Delhi- National Capital Region, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Jaipur.
On Friday, moneycontrol.com reported that Snapdeal plans to begin another round of sales soon.
During the sale, that concluded last week, Snapdeal said that smartphones, consumer electronics and fashion remained its top three categories in terms of value.
However, in terms of volume, fashion came first given its low ticket size, followed by home and mobile and electronics.
Snapdeal also said that during that time, there was a 20-fold jump in traffic coming from tier II and III towns on the platform.
Snapdeal is spending Rs 200 crore on a 360-degree campaign in the run up to the Diwali festival.
The company claims to have products across over 1,000 categories from over 125,000 brands and retailers. It has 300,000 sellers on its platform.
Amazon is also planning to come up with more sale events in the run-up to Diwali.
“You’ll find multiple pockets during the month that we celebrate. For example, last year also, we had done first five days when we did a sale. Then closer to Dhanteras, we did something. So I’m saying, there is celebration across the month. You will find exciting things happening across the month. You should stay tuned—there will be targeted offers that will be coming out through the month, which is what we did last year for 30 days…because people have different needs at different points in time during the month,” said Amazon India spokesperson.
According to Anil Kumar, CEO of Bangalore-based research firm RedSeer Consulting, the follow on sales will largely be around Dhanteras and Diwali. He added that there would be at least two to three more sales during this month.
