Amazon claimed a billion hits in the first 14 hours of the ‘Great Indian Festival’ sale and sold more than 100,000 units in the first half-an-hour of the first day.
On the other hand, Flipkart said it sold more than half a million products within an hour on the first day of its flagship ‘Big Billion Days’ sales event on October 2.
Betting on their new marketing campaign, Snapdeal, said that more than 2 million users logged on during the first hour of sale.
“With a surge in demand for home appliances bought during the day, the products to be shipped from Day 1 of sales itself weighed nearly 3,000 tonnes, enough to fill 20 A380 jumbos (aircraft) carrying only cargo,” the company said in a statement.
It would be interesting to see who wins the war of sale this festive season.
