Xiaomi Mi 6X arrives at TENAA with a larger 18:9 screen, new dual cameras

The Mi 6 is a year old at this point and yet the Mi 7 exists only in rumors. Heres an intermediary update the Xiaomi Mi 6X, which just hit TENAA. Note that this will likely be available outside China as the Mi A2, a sequel to Xiaomi’s Android One phone.

It radically changes the screen from 5.15 16:9 to 5.99 18:9. Its still an IPS panel, but the resolution is now 1,080 x 2,160px.

This made the phone significantly taller and wider 158.9 x 75.5mm vs. 145.2 x 70.5mm. You can think of the X as a tilted plus. Its heavier (166g) but a tad thinner (7.3mm).

The cameras were upgraded too. The rear camera has 20MP + 8MP sensors and are rotated in an iPhone X-like fashion. The selfie camera is a single 20MP shooter.

Its not clear if the chipset was changed, but the battery definitely took a hit 2,910mAh, down from 3,350mAh. Making a larger phone with a smaller battery is usually a bad thing. Anyway, the memory options remain the same 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X will be available in Red (pictured here), Pink, Gray, White, Silver, Gold, Rose Gold and Black.
