With more of us working away from a wall socket, every extra minute we are able to eke out of our mobile device is important. Below you will find a couple of things you can do to save some power on your laptop computer.
Adjusting power options
If you go to your control panel, you’ll be ready to change your laptops power profile. Changing how it behaves when you’re not at the PC will seriously improve the power savings when you’re outside.
Lowering screen brightness
You should lower the screen brightness as much as you comfortably can. This will not only save power, but also reduce eye strain.
Switching off the Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi antenna uses lots of power, so switching it off when you are not on the internet or attempting to send an email can truly save some energy.
Ejecting any CD in the drive
If you’ve a CD left in the drive, it will spin up each time you turn on your laptop, and depending on your power settings and laptop manufacturer, it will intermittently check to see if the CD in the drive is being read. Remove it to save power.
Remove any USB devices
This is a no-brainer actually. USB devices leech power from your portable computer. If you have things like a mouse and an external disk drive that you’re not using, disconnect it.
Getting rid of any nonessential programs
Items such as Windows gadgets use up more power. The same applies to any other programme working in the background. Have a look at your taskbar (the icons next to the clock) and see if there’s anything that you do not want.
