E-commerce major Flipkart on Tuesday said it has launched a home decor category on its portal that will offer more than 5,00,000 products across 1,000 national and international brands.
Products in the category include furnishing, decor, lighting, household items and do-it-yourself tools.
“Currently the online home market stands at Rs 1,400 crore – and this is one of the categories that has a lot of potential, but has been largely untapped by e-commerce players,” said Ankit Nagori, senior vice president (Marketplace) at Flipkart.
“We intend to be the ultimate destination for home product shoppers, offering buyers a unique shopping experience, enabling them to browse, compare, review and make purchases effortlessly.”
Nagori added that the website will be introducing additional products in this category “very soon”.
Among others, the category will include exclusive introductory offers on brands such as Bombay Dyeing, Portico, Bosch, Prestige, Hawkins, Philips, and Eveready. It will also include a range of items like glassware, marble items, cotton and metalic producs from manufactures across different regions like Jaipur, Salem, and Tirupur, among others.
Flipkart currently has 30 million registered users clocking over 10 million daily visits. The company says it has the infrastructure to deliver eight million shipments per month.
