Environmentally Friendly Packaging Solutions For Everyday

Shipping something of importance’s, such as a gift, will need creative packaging solutions from a store that has experience in the shipping business. Most shipping companies are busiest during the holiday season of October through January. Depending on what a person is trying to send and to where, there are many different shipping package options available in addition to different packaging materials. The goal of a shipping company is to make sure a package arrives in one piece with no damage and on time. Time is secondary to having the item not broken.

What many of the consumers are concerned about, besides their items getting to there destination undamaged and on time, is that the company they choose to ship them is eco-friendly. Many packaging companies are cutting down on the amount of paper, wrapping and covering they use to insure that the items are safe. This doesn’t mean that a consumers item are any less safe, they are simply packaged tighter and smaller in order to save on excess shipping materials.

Using less Styrofoam packing peanuts is one of the ways a shipping company is doing their part to help save the environment. Styrofoam is not biodegradable and will stay in a landfill for years and years. If a shipping company does come upon these little packing materials, they will use them and ask their customers to return them for recycling and reusing in another person’s package, this way they will stay in circulation as long as possible and not end up in the landfill.

Plastic wraps or bubble wrapping materials might be another worry for those who want to protect the earth and its creatures. Recycling and reusing bubble wrap and other types of plastic wraps is one answer. Another way to help save the planet from an over use of plastic wraps is to use those that are already made with mostly recycled materials. There are several manufacturing plants that make plastic wrap for packaging but they make it out of old plastic grocery bags and plastic drinking bottles.

A packaging design is going to be smaller and more compact in order to accommodate a smaller amount of packaging material but the same size item. There is really no need for an item to be shipped in a large box with a lot of air. Air is never a good cushion for breakables. There are air-bag style packaging supplies that some shipping companies use and again, these are made of thinner plastic in order to use fewer resources and to be more recyclable.

Once someone receives an item they purchase online or a birthday present, they could return the opened box and packaging materials in order for the shipping company to recycle them. A box could be used again and again in order to save making more and as long as it’s sturdy, it will serve a purpose and stay out of the landfill. The tape that packing companies use is extra strong so there is no worries about something falling out.

There are certain containers for certain items. For example, if someone needs to ship something flammable or sharp, they need to tell the shipper of this so they can prepare a special container and be safe when handling the item. Everyone from the person who packages and sends off the box to the people who handle the box and the truck drivers will need to know that there is something potentially hazardous in the box so they are all safe.

Anyone and everyone who wants to take part in helping to save the Earth should look for Packaging solutions that are eco-friendly. They could recycle items they receive in the mail or by courier and reuse as much of what they receive as possible. Going to a green friendly shipper is also a step in the right direction to less in the landfills.
