Apple has released iOS 11.2 for compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. The update was pushed ahead of schedule slightly due to a very serious Springboard bug.
Users affected by this bug complained about their Springboard (iOS launcher) crashing and the phone rebooting when after 12:15 AM on December 2 when they received a push notification. What the significance of that date is is unknown but it did cause a lot of frustration and the only solutions seemed to be to either set your date back or disable notifications.
Fortunately, the fix came rather quickly as Apple included it in the 11.2 update and expedited it ahead of planned schedule.
Along with that, other changes in this update include Apple Pay Cash support in the US, which will let users send and request money from others using Apple Pay.
The update also adds fast wireless charging support on the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, three new live wallpapers for the iPhone X, improved camera stabilization, and a whole host of bug fixes, including a fix for the infamous Calculator bug.
iOS 11.2 is now available to download on compatible devices. If you are unable to download OTA you can always use iTunes.
