The latest version of the Google app for iOS (which you can already find in the iTunes App Store) is all about speed. The app itself is now much faster than it was before, on iPhones and iPads alike. Opening the app as well as searching, you’ll see that everything loads quicker. So much so, in fact, that Google says its app’s users will save a combined 6.5 million hours this year.
Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) are now available inside the Google app for iOS, which means getting to certain content on the web will now be a lot faster too. That’s because news articles from many publishers load instantly thanks to AMP. The AMP-enhanced posts come with a lightning bolt and AMP branding next to them when you’re in the Top Stories section of the search results, making them easy to recognize.
Finally, you can now instantly watch sports highlights videos right in your Google Now cards. A big Play button will be featured on the cards that have sports highlights, you tap that and the video will load immediately.
