Details emerge on YouTube block
Pakistan has rejected claims that it was responsible for blocking global access to the YouTube video clip site.
YouTube was hard to reach this week following action by Pakistan to block access inside its borders for its hosting of a "blasphemous" video clip.
Analysis suggests the block was taken up by net hardware that routes data effectively cutting off the site.
But a spokeswoman for Pakistan's telecoms authority said the problem was caused by a "malfunction" elsewhere.

Apple Upgrades MacBooks With Faster Chips
Apple came out with new upgraded models of its MacBook and MacBook Pro line today that are faster and include more storage than earlier models, as well as a feature introduced in the ultra-thin MacBook Air.
The higher end of Apple's notebook line, the MacBook Pro with 15.4-inch widescreen, now runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz processor with 2GB of DDR2 SDRAM standard, expandable to 4GB. The MacBook Pro also includes a 200GB hard drive. read more »

The European Commission said it has fined US software giant Microsoft Corp 899 mln eur for failure to comply with the EU executive's antitrust decision against the company just under four year ago.
The commission said the company charged 'unreasonable prices' for access to interface documentation for work group servers prior to Oct 22 last year.
Microsoft (nasdaq: MSFT - news - people ) was required to disclose 'complete and accurate' interoperability information to developers of work group server operating systems on 'reasonable terms', the commission said. read more »

Terrorist leader in Britain convicted
A Tanzanian-born Muslim who dubbed himself "Osama bin London" was found guilty Tuesday of encouraging his followers to murder nonbelievers and of running terrorist training camps in Britain.
Mohammed Hamid, 50, who came to England when he was 5, was convicted along with three followers: Kibley da Costa, 25, Mohammed Figari, 45, and Kader Ahmed, 20, whom the jury found guilty of attending the training camps.
A fifth suspect, Atilla Ahmet, 43, who once boasted of being Al Qaeda's top figure in Europe, at the start of the trial admitted guilt on three charges of soliciting murder. read more »
